All parents co-oping in the classroom are considered school staff by the state of Virginia. Virginia legislation relevant to the school's licensing requires that all staff "who work directly with children shall annually attend eight hours of staff development activities that shall be related to child safety and development and the function of the center."
Each co-oping parent is required to complete eight hours of continuing education by the end of the school year.
AUCP provides training on-site as well as information about approved community resources for training.
At AUCP, we believe that this shared opportunity for learning will further empower parent co-opers as effective classroom participants and make us a stronger program by creating a consistent classroom environment for our children.

AUCP sponsors many on-site Continuing Education activities and has found many off-site opportunities that you may take advantage of as well. If you find an off-site opportunity that you would like to attend and that we have not yet identified, please contact Susan Parker or Prabha Rollins or Laurel Miller to obtain approval prior to going. To receive Continuing Education credits for taking any of the off-site offerings, you will need to complete the Continuing Education Offsite Form posted below and return it to Prabha Rollins or Laurel Miller, AUCP Continuing Education Co-Chairs.
